Miranda Sykes has been performing with Show of Hands since 2004, augmenting their unique sound with her powerful double bass and rich harmonies. In this time the band have moved on from their folk duo image, and evolved into a hard hitting acoustic band, selling out UK and European tours and headlining some of the biggest festivals across the world.

As well as being a superb vocalist and double bassist she continues to surprise audiences with her musical versatility, and demonstrates her ability as a guitarist and interpreter of song, slipping effortlessly between genres. She has a strong repertoire of songs and is currently developing material for her 4th solo album project.

Having previously worked on the ‘Live Music Now!’ scheme and with Sense (the deafblind charity), Miranda is keen to develop her work with community projects in the South West. She has recently undertaken a residential project with young musicians, and particularly enjoys visiting both mainstream and special schools.
